One-on-one lessons are most effective for teaching an instrument and aiding in musical advancement outside of participating in a band setting. My students are of different ages and levels of experience; therefore, individual private lessons give each student the ability to advance at his or her own pace. Teaching drum lessons proves to be a learning experience for the instructor in addition to the student: I must tailor the way I convey information to each individual student since everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds. Believe it or not, I'm still learning, too! I add to my music library very often, practicing and teaching new things as I come across them.
